Movie-making questions

It continues to be "all things Star Wars" around here. We watched a movie on how Star Wars was made, costumes, actors, sound stages, props, puppets, budgets, etc. It was very educational and entertaining. Later, in the car, the kids were discussing how Yoda was a puppet. And then I was asked.....

"Mom, so in the movie, how did they make the force?" (by Luke)

And later when another friend was discussing a different movie called The Emporer's New Grove, Sarah asked, "What episode number is that?"

And lastly, Sean runs around the house telling us he is fighting the man known as Dark Bader (no this child has not seen the movies, just knows the hipe).

May the force be with you!

Surprise!

Our family received the best Christmas present ever....we found out that in mid-August we will be blessed with Kelty Kid #4. The kids and grandparents found out on Christmas morning, which was memorable. And everyone is very excited. Thank you all for your prayers, as they surely helped us achieve this blessing. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we pray for a healthy baby and delivery.

Rocks better than snow?

This just in.....rocks may be better than snow. Rocks and snow could have been earth-shattering, but we were happy with rocks on our Cleveland trip. We took the kids rock climbing in the Metroparks on our visit. We learned the following: with enough snow gear no one will complain of being cold, little people love to climb and look over scary ledges and this scares mom, our dog is part mountain goat, hot cocoa is really yummy, and caves are cool. The kids and dog had a blast and did mom and dad....and no one got hurt!

Use the force

We are in Star Wars mode here at the Kelty house. A wonderful uncle even got the kids lightsabers....now my vacuum attachements get a break! Anyhow, this photo show that any male (dads, grandpa, boys) and even young girls love to use the force.

Clampet-style Christmas

Okay folks.....let's pretend there are 15 days of Christmas instead of 12, and then this post won't be so terribly late. Now hum that familiar tune to the "Beverly Hillbillys" while admiring the picture of our car on our return trip from our Christmas adventure. The car looked relatively normal on the leg from Cleveland to Charleston, but there it got well....it got like this. We had a car top carrier full of gifts and luggage, 3 kids, a dog, "car entertainment" for the kids, snacks, and adults in the car...and then the motherload. We got a backyard playset from friends in Charleston. They were happy to be rid of it, while we were happy to take it. The car...not so happy, as the windshield cracked a bit at tie-down time. We made it home safe and sound after a long drive (the supposed 7 hours turned to 11 as I-95 was a parking lot). However, we made many folks chuckle and stare and the rest stops! Again, Merry Christmas!
